Procedure

How are the sessions structured?

After establishing contact we will arrange a non-binding first appointment. The purpose of this first session is to give you the opportunity to express your concern and ask any questions you might have. It also aims at giving you an insight into my way of working and it allows me to get a first overview of your current situation and the problems you may be having. At this stage we will also start formulating goals to achieve.

Together we will decide whether a psychotherapy would be the most adapted to your concerns.

The aim of the preliminary phase of psychotherapy (generally three additional sessions) is to do an diagnostic assessment and to explore the problem‘s onset, its reasons to persist and ways to overcome it.

During the psychotherapy implementation phase we will work together on achieving the defined goals.

The duration of the psychotherapy will depend on your individual situation and concern (typically: brief therapy: 12-24h, long-term therapy: 45-60h). Generally, a session lasts for 50 minutes.

To be eligible for reimbursement from the CNS, all services provided by a psychotherapist must be prescribed by a doctor, certifying that there is no medical contraindication to psychotherapy. Acts and services listed in the nomenclature of psychotherapists are reimbursed at a rate of 70% for adults and
100% for insureds who have not reached the age of 18 on the date the medical prescription is issued. You can find more details on the CNS’ webpage https://cns.public.lu/en/assure/vie-privee/sante-prevention/prestations-medicales/psychotherapie.html

What is your role in counselling or psychotherapy?

I consider you as an active partner in psychotherapy and attach great importance to making the treatment plan and implementation transparent. Furthermore, I emphasize the promotion of your self-efficacy and autonomy. You will be doing most of the work outside the sessions and I will encourage you to conduct small exercises and assignments (e.g. journaling, trying out new behavior) in your daily life. The aim of our collaboration is for you to regain and maintain your emotional well-being.
